CHILDREN IN CHURCH KNOWS THAT ISRAEL BELONGS TO THE JEWS: By: Colin Wingfield

Eyal Assad, the chairman of the Druze forum of the Jewish Home Party expressed harsh criticism of the recent international attacks on the State of Israel. "In less than three generations the UN has forgotten about the terrible genocide which was committed against the people of Israel, and is working diligently to undermine the State of Israel, the only Jewish state in the world. Ask any child in any of the churches which are scattered around the world, from America to China, ask any Muslim who is knowledgeable in the Koran, and he will tell you that the land of Israel belongs to the people of Israel." Assad stated. Regarding the recent UNESCO resolution to deny the Jewish connection with the Temple Mount and the Western Wall, Assad said that "These are not academic decisions. They are purely political. They are designed to promote the cynical agenda to destroy Israel as a Jewish and Zionist entity and to destroy the Jewish people as a nation.” Assad praised Israel's tolerance for other religions. "In June 1967, Defense Minister Moshe Dayan gave the keys to the Temple Mount back to the Jordanian Waqf after the Old City and Temple Mount had been captured, showing sensitivity to the religious feelings of the Islamic world." Assad wondered why Islam has not been able to show similar sensitivity towards Judaism. (Arutz-7) [Comment]

TRUMP SAY HIS JUSTICES WILL OVERTURN ROE VERSES WADE:By: Colin Wingfield

Donald Trump told voters that the Supreme Court is "what it’s all about” in this election as he and Hillary Clinton squared off for their final debate ahead of the election, vowing to appoint justices who would be conservative and would overturn the Roe v. Wade abortion decision. "That will happen automatically,” Mr. Trump said at the top of the debate. Mrs. Clinton countered that she wanted to see a Supreme Court that is representative of all Americans, and ticked off a list of rights she said the justices need to preserve, including abortion rights. Even some Democrats were cringing when Hillary gave her ‘late term abortion’ answers. During the final presidential debate on Wed. 19 Oct, moderator Chris Wallace asked both candidates whether they would overturn Roe vs. Wade. Donald Trump's response steered the conversation to late-term abortions, and Clinton was forced to defend the practice: Many were horrified that she would do so after Trump gave a graphic description of the abortion process. But then she launched a passionate defense, claiming that Trump was describing the process inaccurately - but not everyone bought it. Hillary Clinton didn't directly answer Wallace's question on late-term abortion but clear she supports abortion through 9 months. Even most Democrats don’t support late-term abortion. Hillary came out for open borders, higher taxes, Obamacare, late term abortion; all unpopular with majority of voters. (Washington Post/ijr) [Comment]

WHAT CHRISTIANS MUST DO THIS ELECTION SEASON: By: Colin Wingfield

Wednesday night 19 Oct. 2016, many watched the third – and final – USA presidential debate. Americans are more divided than ever before. And at the center of this controversy are the candidates themselves - the Republican nominee Donald Trump and the Democratic contender Hillary Clinton. Allegations of sexual misconduct; 33,000 deleted emails; claims of "election rigging,” and the material just keeps coming. Inundated with electoral politics, many Bible-believers are expressing confusion, frustration, and uncertainty about what to do on 8 Nov. Sadly, the nominees of both major parties present significant challenges for anyone committed to voting according to biblical values. We must pray that God will act in and through this election cycle. Only He can redirect the badness of our situation toward good ends. Only He could make something beautiful from the ugliness of this moment in our national history.

Adding to that difficulty is the fact that the stakes in this election are incredibly high. There’s legitimate concern over the composition of the Supreme Court as well as the rapidly increasing social and cultural rot of our nation. As we battle back and forth over the political situation, it’s easy to forget the importance of prayer. When we turn to God in prayer, we are asking Him to give us wisdom - a rare commodity in the current election cycle. As the people of God grapple with whom to vote for next month we stand in desperate need of such a gift. James 1:5 tells us: "If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him." You never know: God might act in a surprising way in response to our prayers. He may bestow unexpected blessings or bring forth unanticipated outcomes during this contentious season. If we have any real concern for our nation, the one thing we must do is pray. The dire nature of the situation - two deeply flawed presidential candidates, social unrest, rampant injustice, disintegrating political parties, and divided Christian communities - should be more than enough to bring us to our knees, exactly where we’ll be if we possess any true concern for the future of America. (Fox) "Therefore I exhort first of all that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men, for kings and all who are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.” 1 Tim: 1-2

Being a “good” Christian doesn't need to be complicatedBy: C4i

Many of us worry about how to be a "good” Christian. When you start to examine yourself as a Christian and work towards a deeper understanding of what it means to walk with the Lord, this can be an intimidating question. Trying to figure out what a "good” Christian looks like, and what's more, how to become one, can turn from a healthy reflection of faith to a mini-obsession. A concept that is so bewildering and large that it becomes crippling instead of motivating.

That's okay. We need to ask ourselves the big questions every now and then. But, we also need to remember the basics. If you want to be a good Christian, than all you have to do is look to the best example we have – Jesus.

Emulate Jesus

If we're going to be Christians, we should be ready to live up to the namesake. When you go about your daily life, are you doing so with Jesus in your heart? Do your actions reflect his attitudes and teachings? If so, you're doing fine. If you look inwards and see yourself acting and feeling in ways that Jesus wouldn't, you know where to improve.

Please, remember though, the idea is to emulate Jesus, to try and be more like him, not to be perfect. We're humans, fallible beings who are inherently imperfect. You'll never make the right call 100% of the time, you're going to stumble, give in to momentary doubts, anger, temptations. That's okay too, the Lord knows we're not perfect and is always willing to forgive our mistakes.

What's important, is the chase. To be actively seeking to be more Christ-like in your daily life. That's the path that you need to be on.

Let Jesus work within you

Emulating Jesus isn't just about acting correctly and doing the right thing. It's about allowing Jesus into your heart and to work within you. It's about giving up control and becoming obedient to the Spirit. It's about allowing God to transform you and your life.

The more you seek to live a Christ-like life, the more you internalize those lessons. You'll spend less time fretting about how you should behave, and more time acting with the confidence and clarity of a person who is in-step with the Lord.

Keep it Simple

It might seem like an over-simplification, but being a good Christian isn't, and shouldn't, be about jumping through hoops or making impressive displays to prove your devotion.

Open your heart, allow Jesus to take control and walk in his footsteps. Treat others with the grace, generosity, and mercy he has shown you. When you let Christ's love do the driving, you don't need to constantly analyze your worth as a Christian.

TURKEY WARNS THAT WORLD WAR THREE IN INEVITABLE: By: Colin Wingfield

Turkey has warned the world will be plunged into a global conflict with America and Russia on opposing sides if the war in Syria cannot be resolved. Turkish deputy prime minister Numan Kurtulmus made the comments as tensions between Washington and Moscow surged earlier this month. It comes as his country and Western allies have been calling for Syrian president Bashar al-Assad to step down, while Russia is a key backer of the regime in Damascus alongside Iran. Kurtulmus said: 'If this proxy war continues, after this, let me be clear, America and Russia will come to a point of war.’ He then warned that the Syrian conflict had put the world 'on the brink of the beginning of a large regional or global war.' Relations between the Russia and the USA were already at their lowest since the Cold War over the Ukraine conflict. Last week, USA Secretary of State John Kerry called for a war crimes investigation after accusing Moscow and the regime of deliberately bombing hospitals as a Russian-backed assault on Aleppo in northern Syria continues.

The Turkish Deputy Prime Minister’s warning came as it was reported that at least 12 civilians in Aleppo were killed in airstrikes, bring the number of dead in 24 hours to 45. The British-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said five children were among the dead on Monday 17 Oct. 2016, in the rebel-held district of Marjeh in east Aleppo. Dozens more people were wounded or still trapped under rubble. After a meeting of 11 governments opposing Assad's rule, Kerry and British Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson this week each insisted that all options were on the table. But their stark explanations about the danger of resorting to military force appeared to rule out such a move.(UK Daily Mail)

ISRAEL ASKS RUSSIA TO REVISE MILITARY CO-ORDINATION DUE TO NEW RUSSIAN S-300 MISSILES IN SYRIA:By: Colin Wingfield

The Israel Defense Forces has approached the Russian Defense Ministry to request that new coordination procedures be developed now that Russia has stationed S-300 anti-aircraft missiles in Syria, Izvestia reported. The Russians stationed the new missile system at their naval base at the Syrian port of Tartus about two weeks ago. "In the context of the hotline between Israel and Russia, the Israelis sent us a request to develop new procedures and open-fire rules to be added to the existing coordination mechanism," a Russian source said, adding that the request was made to prevent Russian missile systems in Syria from firing at Israeli aircraft by mistake. (Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs) Continue to pray for the safety of Israel’s northern borders and communities. Pray for ongoing discernment in Israel’s security organizations as to Russia’s long-term true intent where the Jewish state is concerned. [Comment]

What does Fellowship mean to you?By: C4i

I'm a little embarrassed to admit it, but for a long time when I heard the world "fellowship” I didn't exactly picture a great time. Fellowship was a one of the go-to words in the Church I grew up in. It was a phrase the deacon who did the weekly introduction would hit on almost every Sunday. He would always say how "good it is for all of us to be gathered together in fellowship today,” or talk about how "crucial fellowship is to the Christian life.”

Mostly, I fidgeted with my little tie, trying desperately to catch a good gulp of air in the stuffy, overheated, and over-perfumed chapel.

For a long time, I associated the word fellowship with ill-fitting suits I got as hand-me-downs from my brother. With sitting up straight in an uncomfortable pew so I wouldn't attract attention from scowling old ladies. With waiting in the parking lot, sizzling under the sun while my mom's Church group meeting seemed to go on and on.

For years, fellowship got a bad rap in my life. It got to be around my teenage years, I decided that maybe it wasn't something I needed in my life at all. That I had a strong relationship with the Lord and didn't see the point of going to some big group meeting every week, especially when it made me dress, act, and behave differently from my regular life. Why go through something that felt more like putting on a performance for the benefit of others, when I wasn't gaining anything spiritual for all the effort?

I was wrong of course. I'd come to regret that choice over the years as I felt more and more disconnected from the Lord and adrift in my own life.

As Christians, we all need fellowship whether we know it or not (or, like some stubborn idiots, want to admit it). But, it's up to us to define what fellowship means. Fellowship should be when Christian brothers and sisters gather together to celebrate the Lord and support each other in a way that nourishes the spirit, not some kind of dreaded weekly chore.

As Christians, we need to open up our definitions of fellowship, to welcome and embrace each other without feeling like we need to put on airs of perfection or perform to certain expectations. The Church should feel more like an old friend's house where you are welcomed and loved, and less like a restaurant with a dress-code where the maître d' is giving you the eyeball.

The goal of fellowship should be to spread the word of the Lord. To support our brothers and sisters, take on each other's burdens together, and unite us in the Holy Spirit. It should be about building each other up and welcoming more to join.

Because the truth is, we can't go it alone. As much as you might believe you're a proud lone wolf who doesn't need to bother with weekly fellowship, sooner or later, life is going to come along and prove otherwise. You're going to stumble in your walk with Christ, you're going to feel cut-off from God, alone in the world. Without a strong Christian family to lean on, you might fall, and fall hard.

But how do we do it? How do we make the change? Start with yourself. Be the fellowship you want to see in your Church.

Put away your judgments, your desire for status, knock it off with the cliquish behaviour and pettiness that can turn fellowship into some sort of social gauntlet. Focus on just being there for your Christian family. Make your fellowship a fellowship where people can come together and laugh, cry, comfort, and bond with each other the way it was meant to be.

Define what fellowship means to you, and live that truth.

NEW DIAGNOSTIC TEST DISTINGUISHES BACTERIAL FROM VIRAL INFECTIONS:By: Colin Wingfield

ImmunoXpert, developed by Israeli startup MeMed, is now used by hospitals in the EU, Switzerland and Israel to determine rapidly whether an infection is bacterial or viral. Because they are usually unable to determine the cause of an infection, many physicians prescribe antibiotics to be on the safe side. Experts believe that up to 50% of antibiotic drug regimens are unnecessary or inappropriate. And antibiotic overuse is a major trigger for drug-resistant strains estimated to kill 50,000 people each year in Europe and the USA. ImmunoXpert interprets chemical signals from the body's own immune system to distinguish with over 90% accuracy between bacterial and viral infections. Instead of trying to access and isolate the pathogen, ImmunoXpert's sophisticated biosensors and algorithms decode the immune system's distinct responses to bacterial and viral infections. ISRAEL THWARTS HAMAS SUICIDE BOMBING PLOT ON BUS IN JERUSALEM:By: Colin Wingfield

Israeli security authorities announced 11 Oct. 2016, that they have arrested a Hamas operative who planned a number of terror attacks in the Jerusalem area, including a suicide bombing on a bus in the capital's Pisgat Ze'ev neighborhood. Muhammad Fuaz Ibrahim Julani, from the outskirts of Jerusalem, was arrested last month while planning the attack at the behest of his Hamas handlers in the Gaza Strip, according to the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) The investigation of Julani revealed that he had discussed a number of potential attacks with his handlers, including a bombing at a store he had formerly worked at, and bombing attacks at high profile sites in Jerusalem that would cause mass casualties, such as the Central Bus Station and the Malha Mall. Such targets were ruled out amid heavy Israeli security presence and the Hamas terrorists settled on the Pisgat Ze'ev bus bombing, the Shin Bet said. Julani was arrested before he could perform the attack, after which he turned in two of his family members who had helped him hide weapons from Israeli authorities during his arrest. USA LAWMAKERS URGE UNESCO NOT TO REWRITE JERUSALEM’S HISTORY:By: Colin Wingfield

USA Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL) and Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) are leading a bipartisan effort to stop the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) from passing a resolution that would describe the Temple Mount and the Western Wall as holy Muslim sites, thus diminishing the historic and verified Jewish and Christian ties to the Old City of Jerusalem. Ros-Lehtinen, Cruz and 37 other lawmakers signed a letter to members of the Executive Board of UNESCO, urging them to vote against the resolution. "The Old City of Jerusalem is important to the three monotheistic religions. Numerous archaeological excavations have uncovered a myriad of antiquities that scientifically prove the historical connection of all three religions to Jerusalem, such as the discovery of the Pool of Siloam or the restoration of floor tiles of the Second Temple in the City of David. We celebrate the heritage and cultural ties of these religions to Jerusalem and the importance of Jerusalem to millions of people around the world,” added the lawmakers.

"Yet, this resolution seems to prioritize the Muslim heritage of the Old City, while diminishing the ties of either of the other religions. For example, the Temple Mount, the holiest site in Judaism, along with the Western Wall, where Jews from all over the world have come to pray, are described exclusively as Muslim holy sites and referred to only by their Muslim names. UNESCO’s mission is to build intercultural understanding through protection of heritage and support for cultural diversity. This unnecessarily divisive resolution undermines the very purpose and integrity of UNESCO by seeking to rewrite Jerusalem's history, rejects Jerusalem's multi-cultural heritage, and undercuts Jerusalem's extraordinary diversity,” the lawmakers wrote, warning that "attempting to erase the Jewish and Christian connection to this sacred city will further damage the prospects of peace between Israel and the Palestinians. (Arutz-7) Pray this utterly bias and deceitful resolution - geared to strip many of Jerusalem’s most important religious sites of their Jewish and Christian heritage and history - will be vetoed.
